In 2005 God brought Lesa Kutemwa to the attention of a small, elderly congregation in Wythenshawe…
It is hoped that within 2006 a home can be created in Zambia for 10 vulnerable children.
A 10-bed home & centre is needed to help ensure babies and children who are HIV positive receive shelter, care, medical support and play facilities. These will enable them to have hope for a brighter future.
Lesa Kutemwa is run on a voluntary basis. It is impossible to shoulder the running costs & responsibility without your support. Please give generously to raise Ł20,000 to buy & equip the centre for babies & children.
Almost 1/3 of the population of Zambia are HIV positive. Many children live with an infected parent and are bereaved at a young age. They are taken care of most often by grandparents on little or no income. There is much poverty, disease and, widespread debt.
Chingola is located in the heart of the copper belt of Zambia and there are many children living on the street who have health problems from the dust of the copper mines. Zambia continues to be one of the world’s poorest countries. However Joyce and her team of skilled women and men including a nurse, a teacher and an organiser are keen to see that God’s love is shared with the most vulnerable and marginalised people in that community: children under 6 years old. They are realistic but also optimistic that, with wider support, there are many possibilities for transformation and hope which can be shared.
Joyce is an active member of her church and part of a team whose vision for Lesa Kutemwa has been formulated. This project is understood as an expression of their faith in God. Lesa Kutemwa means 'God is love' in Bemba, a local Zambian language.
